‘Thug and killer’: Putin’s nuclear threats need to be taken seriously

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s threat to use nuclear weapons needs to be taken seriously, says former US Army Chief of Staff General Jack Keane.

“He’s a thug, and he’s a killer,” General Keane told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

General Keane said he didn’t believe that NATO would respond “in kind” if Russia deployed nuclear weapons.

“The United States and NATO would likely respond with devastating air and missile attacks which would literally destroy the remnants of the Russian military inside Ukraine,” he said.

“And guarantee that he loses the war.”
