‘Power struggle’ in Moscow Putin’s ‘worst nightmare’

International Institute for Strategic Studies’ William Alberque says Russian President Vladimir Putin’s nightmare is that some sort of succession crisis begins and “threatens his ability to control the country”.

Mr Alberque said he knows Russia is going to blame Ukraine “up and down” for the death of Darya Dugina, the daughter of one of Putin’s closest allies Alexander Dugin.

“But honestly, this looks like a power struggle within Moscow, and I think that’s Putin’s worst nightmare,” Mr Alberque told Sky News Australia.

“That’s Putin’s nightmare, is that some sort of succession crisis begins and undermines his rule and really threatens his ability to control the country.”
