‘Personal hell’: John Barilaro fronts parliamentary inquiry

Former deputy NSW premier John Barilaro says he has endured a “personal hell” since withdrawing from the controversial US trade commissioner role as he fronts a parliamentary inquiry into the appointment.

“I applied for a public service job as a private citizen, nothing excluded me in doing so,” he said at the parliamentary inquiry.

“I followed the exact same process that was afforded to others … I was offered a job, I accepted a job, I withdrew from this job.”
