Invading Taiwan will be ‘too troublesome’ for China, says former PM

John Howard appears to be “more optimistic on the China front” than the Australian and United States governments, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

Mr Clennell discussed the former prime minister’s new book, A Sense of Balance, which explores the rise of China’s belligerence in the Pacific in depth.

“He doesn’t think China will move to take over Taiwan,” Mr Clennell said.

“Because it will be too troublesome, create too much risk for the US and there is a danger of a resistance.”
