New York City mayoral candidate Scott Stringer was accused of sexual harassment by a former intern. In a news conference Wednesday, former employee Jean Kim said Stringer kissed and groped her without her consent while she was working on his campaign in 2001.
Kim has demanded Stringer, who is one of the leading Democrat candidates, resign from his current position as City Comptroller as well as withdraw from the mayor’s race.
We cannot afford to be distracted from making sure every New Yorker can pay the rent, live with dignity, and be safe from violence.
Scott Stringer should do the right thing and withdraw from this race.

The accusations come less than two months before the city’s mayoral primaries.
“But I’m coming forward now,” Jean Kim stated. “Because being forced to see him on my living room TV every day, pretending to be a champion for women’s rights, just sickens me when I know the truth.”

Stringer has since denied all allegations, but did admit to having “consensual relations” with Kim. He added, he is not ending his mayoral campaign.
