Alex Jones required to pay Sandy Hook families $1.5 billion

A United States court has ruled American radio host and owner of controversial website InfoWars Alex Jones must pay over $AUD1.5 billion in damages to families of the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Mr Jones repeatedly claimed the 2012 mass shooting was staged by the government as a way to introduce gun control measures – telling his InfoWars audience that the families of the 26 people killed were actors.

Members of the eight families who brought the lawsuit say they’re grateful for today’s verdict but they still have anger over Mr Jones’ actions.
