Former President Donald Trump will be hosting a fundraiser for New York Rep. Elise Stefanik at his New Jersey golf course on Wednesday night.
“On my way to Bedminster to visit with my friend President Trump for our biggest #TeamElise fundraiser ever! Republicans & the American people have never been more energized and excited to defeat the Far Left & save our country! And we proudly love our American flag,” Stefanik tweeted on Wednesday.
Stefanik, an outspoken supporter of Trump, was elected last month as House Republican Conference chair, the third most powerful position in the House. She replaced Rep. Liz Cheney, a known Trump critic.
Previously, Trump had openly backed Stefanik in her pursuit as Conference chair, calling her “gifted communicator.”
Trump plans first to meet with Stefanik at his National Golf Course Bedminster around 4:30 p.m. for a one-on-one. Afterward, the two will meet with nearly 20 top donors and at 6 p.m. to a larger reception of around 50 donors.
Stefanik’s team told the New York Post they had raised $250,000 for the Elise Victory Fund so far.
Stefanik gained notoriety after coming out as a staunch critic of New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo early on. Cuomo currently faces multiple scandals, including his handling of the COVID-19 outbreak and multiple allegations regarding sexual harassment.
