‘Troubling’: China’s administration is ‘more assertive’

Shadow Foreign Minister Simon Birmingham says it is “troubling” to see China’s administration take a “more assertive” approach, as he discussed comments made by the Chinese Ambassador.

Mr Birmingham said the comments made by Chinese Ambassador Xiao Qian were the “same types of things” said by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“It’s a reminder that we face a different approach from China today, that is more assertive,” he told Sky News Australia.

“That is troubling and concerning.”
