Taiwanese people have ‘no desire’ to be part of PRC

More and more people in Taiwan see themselves as Taiwanese as opposed to Chinese, says former DFAT Australia-China Council scholar Andrew Phelan.

He said they have “no desire” to be part of the People’s Republic of China.

“Right now, about 11 per cent of people in Taiwan say they want to join the PRC,” he told Sky News Australia.

“That trend has been heading south for the last few years.”
